Beware of TBL

Hey Guys,

Many, many years ago I briefly worked in the oilfield for a company called Atlas Wireline Services.  In one respect it was the most miserable 8 months of my life, but in another it was one of the most valuable 8 months.

Why?  Because it was a compressed introduction to the harsh reality of business, a crash course in what Robert Ringer called his “Screw U.”  And I was a very, very good student.

What if everything you ever thought you knew about dating and relationships was just plain wrong?  Would you keep doing the same things and getting the same results?  Or would you try something new and radically different?  To stop dating, and

One of the most eye opening things I ever learned was that people really would look you square in the eye and tell you what Ringer calls TBL—“The Big Lie.”

That people would do this was rather shocking to me.  I had just come out of an environment (the US Navy) where there were severe repercussions for not just lying, but for even small mis-representations of truth.

I went from the group attitude of “thou shalt not lie, cheat or steal” to “thou shalt lie, cheat, and steal as much as humanly possible for thy will be rewarded for it.”

There were several times in the oilfield when a manager or co-worker looked me right in the eye, and knowingly, deliberately told TBL.  At first I was in utter disbelief—but as more and more people made their living based on TBL I began to get a feel for when someone was spinning a yarn.

That’s served me well in business, as well as in attraction.  More importantly, it pounded the reality into me that people WILL look you in the eye and fib their ass off with no consideration whatsoever that they may be doing something “wrong.”

Such people, however, never truly get anywhere in life.  They fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time (those who are looking to be fooled), but they never fool all of the people all the time and eventually their reputation catches up to them.

People will tell TBL to you in business, and women will tell it to you in an attraction situation.  Not all, of course, and not even most—but some, and if you aren’t able to recognize them from afar, they can cause you great harm.

The thing to do is to think back to when someone you trusted laid TBL on you.  Remember what they looked like, how they acted, their body language, and the vibe you got from them.

Chances are when someone tells you TBL in the future, they will look, act, and sound the same as someone who did it in the past.  When this happens, you should run, not walk to the nearest exit.

Don’t be naïve about this.  When it comes to love and money, desperate people do desperate things, not caring about the consequences.   Don’t let them make their tragedy your tragedy.

Beware the TBL.

On with the fun…
