Way back when I started in business, there were only a few types of media—magazine advertising, tele-marketing, direct mail, radio, and tv, with broadcast fax coming on strong.
Whenever you wanted to get hold of someone, you picked up the phone and called them. Or, if you wanted to send them something written, you mailed them a letter or maybe sent a fax.

And, of course, you could go see them in person. There wasn’t much media to hide behind, so if you wanted to attract a woman, you had to communicate with her in a way that risked direct rejection.
You either manned up, and talked to her, or you didn’t. No half ass stuff, no monkeying around. And you know what? The finality of a potential “no” tended to make men prepare a little bit more when it came to attraction. There were no excuses- you either did or you didn’t.
Today, there is an ever-expanding amount of media for timid men to hide behind. You can text a woman. You can email her. You can send her a message on Facebook. Or MySpace. Or Twitter. And you can receive her non-response or her rejection the same way- nice and safe.
Way, way too many men interact with women in this manner. Attraction, at some point, has to be a face to face deal, and it’s best to start out that way, or if that’s not possible at least on the phone.
Women appreciate a man who’s direct, a man who doesn’t hide behind a computer screen, too afraid to take a no (or a yes) to his face.
Yes, the new media CAN be useful as a prospecting and light communication tool, but when it comes to attraction, face to face is always best.
