Hey Guys—
If you’re a long time subscriber, you know I have at times, talked about the attractive power of simply being a “cool guy.”
Yesterday I was perusing the CNN website, and I came across an interview with Brett Michaels of Poison. Here was the last question they asked him:

CNN: Do you believe nice guys do finish first?
Michaels: I think that if you’re a cool dude, and you treat people with respect and you’re nice to people, I think you can do all right.
Read what Brett said very carefully, because he’s a guy who “gets it.” He said if you’re a “cool dude” who is “nice to people” you’ll be fine. He did NOT say, “yes, nice guys finish first.”
That’s a very important distinction and Michaels is eminently qualified to make it. Like many of his 80’s brethren, he has taken the hard work he used to succeed in that era, and used it to succeed in this era. He was cool then, and he’s still cool, no matter what the jealous girlie men in the media say.
People are attracted to the “cool guy.” It is ingrained in them since grade school, and just because you’re out of school doesn’t mean that program has gone away.
Women in their 30’s are still attracted to cool guys, yet few guys present themselves as “cool.” But when you do, that long ago program kicks in again, and she’s attracted to the cool dude you turned yourself into.
The lesson is clear: be a cool guy, act like a cool guy, treat people like a cool guy would, and the universe will reward you.
A bit eerie, but very, very true.
