Dear John,

I have started class recently at a big university campus. I have been trying to “get back in the game” if you will, but I feel like something is holding me back. Over a year ago I had almost no trouble talking to women and getting a good number of them interested in me, and since I am at a big university, there’s bound to be lots of attractive women. I have tried talking to several of these women, but most of them had been pretty aloof and not really paying attention when I introduce myself. Sometimes they’re downright rude. And when I ask them out, they don’t seem to take my offer, or if they do they’ll stand me up.

I want to be able to come across as an attractive guy and if I approach any woman they would respond back. In every one of my classes there is at least one girl I’m attracted to, and there is one I particularly like in one of my theatre classes. I haven’t talked to her yet, but I want to make a good first impression and make her feel attracted to me. Like I said, I barely had a problem talking to women, but something has changed.

I am trying to come across as a confident guy with a playful and flirtatious side, and always flashing them that naughty boy smile, but I don’t think it’s working. It seems before I even talk to a girl nowadays, I get more nervous than I used to, and when I smile and wave at them and try to start up a conversation they will look at me weird and barely respond. And if they do, it’s always in a “…Can I help you with something?” kind of attitude.

I understand you are not able to observe how I am carrying myself, since I am not doing it in front of you. But I’m trying to instill a confident attitude in myself, a knowledge that I can create attraction with any woman. I’m trying to show that, but nothing seems to be working.

JA: Daniel, thanks for the email—this is something a lot of guys struggle with when faced with a change in environment. The first and best thing you can do is to just go back to what you know worked for you in the past. If you “try” something new with the attitude of trying, it can be a big turn off to women. So, to start with go back to what worked.

Also, another thing to do is to keep a journal of all your experiences with women, writing down what you did, and what went right or wrong. A pain in the ass? Yes. An amazing tool for identifying recurring patterns of attraction killers? Absolutely.

Oftentimes when you’re adjusting to a change in environment (and so are they) it can add in an element of discomfort that kills attraction—but as you get more and more comfortable, that initially fades.

So, first off, go back to what you know worked, then when you are 100% comfortable in your new environment, start testing other things. Eventually you’ll get it right, but it is a process and takes time.

Hey Guys—

Twenty years ago if you went out with a woman, there were very limited ways you could be interrupted. You could run into a friend, get an emergency call on the phone of the place you were hanging out, or maybe even have a beeper go off.

That was about it, and for the most part, interruptions were a rarity. But today, they’re the norm.

Think of all the ways you can get interrupted now. Cell phones. Text messages. Iphones connected to email and facebook. And yes, even pagers still exist.

Interruptions have become the norm, yet they are still the best way to break the rhythm of attraction. Ask any woman who’s been on a date with a guy who can’t put his cell phone down, or sits there trying to have a conversation while carrying on three different texting conversations at once.

Women like a man to focus on them and only them, and quite frankly if you’re out with a woman that’s what you should be doing. There’s no text message or phone call that can’t wait a few hours—you control the phone, it does not control you.

So, make it a point to put your phone on silent, and keep it out of sight, out of mind while you are talking with a real, live woman. And if she insists on talking and texting, either end the interaction, or politely tell her you’re much more interesting than any conversation she might be having.

What you will discover is, you’re able to focus on the moment and time spent with her much more clearly than if you are dealing with constant interruptions. Yes, this should be common sense, but all these interruptions in this day and age have apparently addled men’s brains.

Be sure yours is un-addled.

One of the most powerful techniques to sustaining attraction is to continually do the unexpected. It doesn’t have to be earth-shatter, just unexpected.

This is important for two reasons. First off, it shows the woman in your life that you do think about her, value her, AND you actively work on creating the environment for her to be happy.

That’s very attractive.

But the second reason is less obvious. When you do the unexpected, it prevents boredom and monotony from setting in. Getting into a rut, a rinse, wash, repeat lifestyle is one of the reasons why relationships go bad. Boredom IS a deadly attraction killer.

Doing the unexpected on a consistent basis is a defense against boredom. And it’s not that difficult to do.

It could be saying something different to her. Bringing her a small, unexpected gift. Going somewhere unexpected. The truth is, it doesn’t really matter—but the results do.

With the popularity of social media, it is a good question—and my answer might surprise you.

John I was wondering if you could shed a little light on how to go about asking a girl out over facebook ?

JA: Thanks for the email, Brian—there’s no doubt the rise of social media has opened up many more opportunities for connecting with women than ever before. It’s also opened up whole new opportunities for guys to screw things up like never before.

The first thing to keep in mind is you never want to “ask a girl out.” If you frame something like a date, then she’ll treat it as a date, meaning you get safe hug, a kiss on the cheek and then she goes home and tells all her girlfriends, “well, he was a sweet guy, but…”

The other thing to keep in mind is that women are not a fan of men who take the easy way out, i.e. asking them out by email, social media etc. Just give her a call, create a bit of attraction on the phone, then say “hey, you should treat yourself and come hang out with me this weekend.”

If your only option is facebook, then you can still send her the above message, presaged by some witty banter via email or instant message. The point is, you want her to wonder if it’s a date or not, if you “like” her or not, instead of the other way around. The instant she knows it’s a “date” she knows you “like” her and the mystery disappears.

I had a female friend who got asked out by guys over Facebook all the time, and she had various nicknames for them when she referenced them to her girlfriends, things like “facebook boy.” If you can avoid it at all costs, don’t do it over facebook. If you have no other choice, invite her to come hang out with you—nothing more or less.

Hey Guys—

Yesterday I went to my mailbox and saw something I hadn’t seen in a long time: a personal letter typed by a typewriter.

It was from a man who’d seen my secrets of natural attraction system description, and wanted to ask me some questions. Lots of questions.

I briefly glanced over them, then put his letter aside. Why? Because all of his questions would have been answered had he taken action and invested in my system instead of trying to get something for nothing.

If he’d invested his hard earned money in himself, he probably would have gotten good results, since the questions he had were easily solvable. But he did not. He chose the freeloader route, and that is what his problem truly is.

Lookit, every successful person I know has this one trait in common: they all value paid education. They all spend a lot of money on improving their skills every year, and none of them ever freeload.

I also know a lot of people who can be considered failures. They too have one trait in common: they do not value their education, and refuse to pay for it (preferring to spend their money on lite beer, cigarettes, and nachos, I suppose).

Women are attracted to men who value investing in themselves, and repelled by men who aren’t. Women can innately sense when a man is interested in achievement, as well as when he is not. And they can choose the men they want to be with.

So, if you want to make yourself instantly more attractive to women, adopt the mindset that you will invest in paid education. Just that move alone will make you more attractive.

Just think what will happen when you start to implement what you invested in—that’s when life really gets fun.
