Q and A with the King

Hello John,

I was just wondering if you by any chance happened to see the June issue of FHM magazine(the one with Jenny McCarthy on the cover). Anyway, in the back there is a section called "pick up signals." Three women talk about what it takes for a guy to pick them up and what they do(or as more often is the case "don't do")to let a guy know she's interested.

As I read through this I just couldn't believe how passive, sneaky and downright cruel these women seem to be. They (and one in particular-the last one) seem to want the men to do all the work. As you read each one you'll notice(according to the order of the blurb not photo) that the first one is the nicest then the second one is a little less nice and the third one is the worst and the one with who plays hardest to get. I'm familiar with your material and I know what your going to say which would be something to the effect of "they won't act so cold and distant to a man who creates attraction for them."

That might be true but at the same time I don't know why any man would want to even waste his time on such game playing women. It seems that instead of letting us know what signals to look for (as the title of the article "Pick UP Signals" would suggest) they instead are "warning" us what we are up against. Why is the modern women so harsh and cold? Do you have any idea? I'm sure their beauty has something to do with it. Oh well. Anyway, just thought you might want to check it out and if you can let me know what you think. You don't have to post this on the mailing list but if you do let me know before hand. Thanks.



JA: Thanks for the email, Mike. When it comes to attraction, one of the biggest secrets I've ever learned is this: pay attention to what women do, not what they say. Keep in mind these women are being interviewed in a national publication all their female friends and other women will say. They're going to say what they think other women want to hear.

One of the great perspectives I have that no woman can ever have is I know how women behave when they're alone with a man, and know nobody else is watching. That's when private behavior is vastly different from public pronouncements.

As far as the "modern woman" being harsh and cold, I have not found that to be the case at all. In my experience, they are warm and friendly, and just want to be with a man who shows them some personal authority (which they rarely get from today's "man") and creates some attraction.

Master the attraction-creation process and you'll quickly discover that public pronouncements are just that... talk in public. The fun starts in private.

Dear John,

This reminds me to ask you a question I've had for some time- what if you or your love-interest has a job that might intrude on the time you were going to meet? If she's a doctor, or in my case a broadcast engineer, things can go wrong and one or both may have to bail. How do you recommend handling those situations? I fully understand the need for punctuality and I don't waste other people's time and don't let them waste mine (anymore) without good reason.

JA: Good question, Scott. Usually the best way to handle it is to let the other person know early on that it's a good possibility that your job may cause a cancellation or interruption, and that it's to be expected. When it does happen, make sure you set a future time and date to get together, and do your best to make that meeting better than the one that was interrupted. If she's the one with the job that leads to cancellations, make sure you set up a meeting when she does cancel. Also, a neat twist is to show her a bit of understanding when it does happen (a sincere cancellation)--a lot of guys get pissed when a woman legitimately cancels and she'll instantly view you differently when you do this.

Mr. Alanis,

As I study your basic system I find it to be as comprehensive as and college level course I have ever taken. I am glad that I have developed good library skills as the required reading takes a little effort to collect. What is really interesting is that apparently it works. I also like the way that the course takes care of your whole psyche not just your ability to develop relationships with woman. So maybe you can make a deal with University of Phoenix or some other institution to grant college credits for your course.


JA: Thanks for the email Bill, and congratulations for taking action and investing in my system (http://www.johnalanis.com/ultimate_system.htm ). I don't think any University would be interested in granting college credits for my stuff. What I teach actually works... what's taught in college is what "should work," but usually doesn't. Plus I think my material might just scare the heck out of any college administrator! But, thanks for the thought.
